How Men’s Tungsten Rings Saved My Marriage

Before anyone starts thinking that men’s tungsten rings have magical powers - or the ability to revive a dying relationship - allow me to be more specific. The fact that my husband’s new wedding band was made out of tungsten wasn’t really the issue, but rather how easy it was for us to buy one “on the fly.”
We were literally boarding the plane at the airport, headed to the pristine divers’ paradise of Bonaire, when I realized I forgot to pack my husband’s new wedding ring. Just to give you some background, my husband lost his treasured wedding band earlier this year while diving last year in his favorite spot in Florida. Since we had planned on renewing our vows on this year’s trip to Bonaire, we invited a few close friends and family with us to celebrate. We decided to present each other with new wedding bands at the beachside ceremony, but now his rings were sitting in a box on my kitchen counter.
It’s not that Gary is that impressed with men’s jewelry. He only wears a TAG Heuer diver’s watch and a wedding band most of the time. But when we decided to shop for new rings, he discovered that men’s tungsten rings were the ideal alternative to white gold. As an avid diver and sailboat captain, Gary is always outdoors in the summer months and he decided on a ring that would keep up with his lifestyle. We found an excellent selection of affordable men’s tungsten rings online at a website called JustMensRings.com and spent hours going back and forth about which one to buy him. We even called the customer service number to ask questions about the metal.
We learned that tungsten carbide was traditionally used as an industrial metal, up until someone discovered a way to make it into molds for men’s rings. It is quite a bit more durable than most other metals and designed to last a lifetime. But the best part for Gary was the scratch-resistance and strength. His white gold ring had to be re-plated with Rhodium several times over the past 25 years, and the salt water did a number on its finish. He also has a slight allergy to nickel, which is often used in white gold alloys. Needless to say, when he found out that men’s tungsten rings are also hypoallergenic, he was convinced that this was the perfect new ring.
So now you’re probably wondering – how did a men’s tungsten ring save my marriage? Well, it was really the store we bought it from that saved our second honeymoon. As soon as our plane landed in Bonaire, I called the customer service line at JustMensRings.com, and found out they were able to ship the exact same ring to us at our hotel within 24 hours. We chose an overnight delivery, so we had it in less than two days. After we got home from our trip, I simply returned the ring that I left on the counter! When you can get customer service like this from an online men’s ring store, it makes you wonder why people still shop at traditional jewelers.
