There's something really unique about not having a completely uniform bridesmaid party.
The girls' personalities can shine through and they can wear a dress they'll feel confident in too, all while keeping the bride in the spotlight of course!
I think it is a great idea for bridesmaid to have mismatched dresses! I am not sure where you are located but as San Francisco citizen we embrace individuality here. Rather than having the entire bridesmaids in the same style dress and color, it’s great that they are able to express themselves through choosing a dress of their liking. After all, they are “on stage” a lot during the wedding. As a bride, you would want your bridesmaid to feel comfortable the whole night. I would hope the bride would choose a dress that is “her” and comfortable in order to enjoy the night, and let the bridesmaids do the same!
Not to mention, if the bride goes with the conventional same bridesmaid dress, the dress will not be flattering on everyone. The first example that comes to my mind is Bridesmaids’ movie cover, when one bridesmaid has a slightly different dress from the other four bridesmaids because of her body shape. Not every color and dress style will be flattering on every lady that’s lined up next before the bride. Therefore some bridesmaid may not feel comfortable on such a special night.
I am actually using this idea myself! My sister is getting married while her four daughters and myself will be her bridesmaid. We all have a different height, a different body shape and a different skin tone. Letting us choose our own dress will allows us to feel comfortable and express our individuality! I am glad I came across your post!
