Stop and Breathe

I am crazy.

You all probably know this already. I love working, I can't get enough. I can't sit still, just ask Saundra or my sister.

I have had two babies and went to work 2 weeks after their birth days. I know, it's nuts. But sometimes you need a reminder as to why you should slow down, and literally stop and smell the roses.

Or the cake baking, or the cookies, or stop and smell the cinnamon rolls. Either way, stop. Breathe.

For me, stopping is to play "cah cahs" (that's car cars in non-Gabriel) he reminds me how much life there is to love.

This is his face when I told him we were going to Zoo. The Zoo...

Can you remember a time when you got THAT excited about going somewhere. That face (that mischievous face) reminds me to love life, and not just go through the motions daily, and take in each moment.

So as you are going through each day, remember to stop and enjoy the moments, savior that coffee, that "I love you" when you finish a phone call with your sweetie.

KB Kakes new Location

From Click and Order to Brick and Mortar! (Clever, eh?) Just I just came up with that... as I was typing! Sometimes I impress myself with my clever'ness.

I digress.

I am so thrilled that our dear friends over at KB Kakes will very soon have an All-You-Eat Kake Truffle Location!

Okay, so they aren't going to have an AYCE Truffle Bar, that was only a dream, BUT they are going to have a new location, and bakery, and coffee shop!

I can't wait!

I'll update you as more information becomes available on the location and when the Grand Opening Party is going to be!

Outdoor Inspired Centerpieces

Flowers are one of my favorite parts of weddings, they are just so absolutely gorgeous! Some of the centerpieces that people display at their tables are so amazing-sometimes it's hard not to grab them and run!

These nature-inspired centerpieces we found on Better Home & Gardens that were too gorgeous not to share!

Can you believe these are vegetables?!?

What a great idea for something as simple as a brown paper bag! This beats the lunch I used to put in mine!
What do you guys think about these arrangements?

Hot Chocolate Bar

Brrr....there's a chill in the air that just has to remind you it's Winter. I know whenever I get super cold there's nothing like a fireplace, a blanket to snuggle with on the couch, and a warm glass of hot chocolate to make everything right again!

Winter weddings can be chilly so why not warm your guests up with this fantastical hot chocolate bar featured on Martha Stewart Weddings?!?

Marshmallows, cinnamon, peppermint, oh my! There's no end to the things you can add to your hot chocolate bar!

Doesn't this just make you all warm and fuzzy inside??

Cake Inspirations

During the ceremony everyone is focused on the bride and groom, and of course, the bride's dress.

But when it's time for the reception, the focal point is undeniably the cake. Which makes it all the harder to wait to eat it!

These are some gorgeous wedding cake inspirations from Better Home & Gardens made by Delicately Delicious Bakery that we just had to share!

So elegant!

How awesometastic are these floral cake toppers?!?

Wedding Gift for Mom

Wedding day is a bride's big day-the day she's dreamed about since she was a little girl. But the bride is not the only one who it's a big day for.

From the time her daughter is a little girl, a mother dreams of the day she will help her daughter into her wedding gown, and the man who will stand beside her. A mother teaches her son to be the perfect man, so that she can one day watch him marry the perfect woman.

While the wedding day is filled with happiness and laughter, there are also those tears of joy that flow as well-trust me, I've done a few of these. These handkerchiefs from Etsy are such thoughtful, adorable gifts for a bride to give to her mother and/or mother-in-law to keep their eyes dry during the day.

How sweet are these?? I'm not sure how I'm going to keep it together when Gabriel or Zachary are walking down the aisle, I already cry at every Mother Son Dance!

Have any of you moms ever gotten anything special from your bride or groom on their wedding day?

Personal Bridesmaids Gifts

We talk a lot about remembering the people involved in your wedding-and that's because it's so important to recognize the people who have been there for you. Some of the most important people to the bride during the wedding process are her bridesmaids, which is why it's so nice to give them something special so they know just how much she appreciates everything they've done!

How amazing are these personal bridesmaids gift bags we saw on the Wedding Bee??

All the essentials for the big day!

These shoes are great for getting ready together on the big day or dancing the night away in when the ceremony is over!

How amazing are these bridesmaids bags? Have you guys ever gotten anything extra special for being in someone's big day??

Popcorn Bar

Everyone always thinks of what dessert they want to serve at their wedding. Do you want cake? Or cupcakes? Or a desert bar? Decisions, decisions....

But did you ever think of incorporating something salty instead of only things sweet? (I know, this question may be a bit to process)

Don't answer until you check out this totally awesometastic popcorn bar we saw on The Party Dress.

Ok, so now what do you think?? Is this awesome or what?!?

Sparklers for your wedding

New Years was a week or so ago, but don't put away those sparklers just yet!

There is a use for them besides just celebrating the arrival of the new year! Incorporating sparklers into weddings is something we just love!

And they make for some seriously fun pictures!

Ideas for String Lights

You may notice that now that the holidays are over, those tiny strings of lights that you use for...well..basically all aspects of decorating are being offered at super reduced prices everywhere.

What you may not have considered is that those little bulbs of joy can be a wonderful (and seriously inexpensive) addition to your wedding decor, whether for your wedding day, or engagement party or just for a fun dinner party.

We've seen quite a few uses for them, but here are a few that we think are quite "bright" ideas:

Wine Bottle Light via Craftzine

Paper Flower Lights via Sparkle & Hay via DIY or Don't

Cupcake Liner Lights via Curbly

Who knew there were so many creative options for string lights? I adore the cupcake liner idea (and now have an intense sugar craving.

One vanilla cupcake with extra icing please and thank you!).

Do these crafty ideas flip your innovation switch to on?

New Years DIY Week: Part 5

To finish up this week of DIY, I wanted to save something special for last. On the wedding day, it seems stress can run a little high, especially among the bridal party. If anyone can attest to this, I can- don't people realize they hired a wedding planner to take care of everything?!? In any case, you want to be prepared for any little thing that can be done to ease the anxiety the day of.

These DIY Emergency Kits we found on Intimate Weddings are the perfect gift for bridesmaids to give to the bride, or a bride to give to her mom-you know, if she's one of those moms that will probably be worrying more about the schedule than the bride herself.

Items included:
Snack: Water bottle, granola bars, muffins, mints/gum
       Medication: Tylenol, pepto-bismol
Toiletries: Deodorant, oil-blotting sheets, body spray, lotion, tissues, clear nail polish, nail file
Odds & Ends: Safety pins, bobby pins, lint brush, scotch tape

Now, as a wedding planner these are just a few of the things I carry with me at all times. But in the event that you don't have one (for some reason), these are a few essentials you may want to have with you. You can even get yourself a cute monogrammed bag to carry them all in!

Have any of you ever been to a wedding where there was a bridal emergency??

New Years DIY Week: Part 4

Everyone knows with every wedding the party doesn't really begin until the reception. That's when the music, the dancing, and the occasional cocktail all come to life!

These glow jars from Intimate Weddings would make the perfect decoration to line walkways.

What you'll need:
      -Mason Jars         -Scissors
-Glow Sticks       -Rubber Gloves (so you don't have glowing hands for the rest of the day!)

Step 1: Grab two glow sticks and cut at one end. Make sure they are inside the jar when you cut them.

Step 2: Shake each glow stick while holding inside jar until contents are empty.

Step 3: Swirl the liquid around the jar. And you're done!

How awesometastic are these?!?

New Years DIY Week: Part 3

So this may be the new year, but I think it's a general rule that everyone loves spring flowers. Although some of your favorite blooms may not always be in season, theres no reason you can't have your favorite shade of flowers at your wedding with these DIY paper pomander balls we found on A Jubilee Event.

Step 1: Cut the tissue paper to the size of flower you want. The bigger the tissue paper square, the larger the flower. Then fold them accordion style. You will fold one way then flip and fold the other.

Step 2: Fold your accordion in half. This will help you find the center of your flower.

Step 3:  Take the wire and wrap it around your tissue paper. After you have done that twist the wire together. Then spread open the two sides to prepare for the opening of the flower.

Step 4: Begin separating the layers. You may want to alternate sides.

Step 5: Put your ribbon on the top of your styrofoam ball and begin to attach the flowers. And you're done!

Find the full tutorial here! How perfect would these be for decorating a small reception room or the inside of a tent??

I think we have a decor crush with lanterns and hanging lightie thingies, don't you?

New Years DIY Week: Part 2

Some things are just so simple they fit with everything. Bamboo is one of those elements. The natural wood color makes it a perfect addition to almost any occasion, which is why, I thought these bamboo orbs from the Crafty Nest would be such an awesome addition for so many weddings.

I know, they may look a bit daunting, but I promise you they are MUCH easier than they look!

What you'll need:
      -Bamboo roman shade       -Spring Clamps
      -Wood Glue                       -Scissors
-Light cord kit                    -Low watt bulb

Step 1:  Using scissors, cut the strings and unweave the bamboo slats from them.

Step 2: Apply wood glue to the last 1/2 inch of one bamboo slat. Curve the other end around in a circle and place the tip on top of the glue. Secure with a mini spring clamp. Let dry at least 2 hours. Repeat to make about 20 bamboo circles for each pendant light.

Step 3: Starting with three bamboo circles, intersect them into the shape of an orb. Apply a dab of glue at each tip of the triangle and clamp in place. Let dry at least 2 hours.

Step 4: Continue adding bamboo circles until you have as many as you desire. Be sure to leave a hole big enough somewhere for the lightbulb to pass through.

What do you guys think of these?? Can you not see this at an outdoor, barnyard, or tropical inspired wedding??
